Chinese LoveLinks
So I've been doing a bit more searching on Chinese LoveLinks. There are some great Chinese ladies on this site. The downside is that it's not a good place for the newbie man seeking an Asian bride. The best suggestion I have is to sign up for free membership and take a look around. If you like what you see, then take out the discounted Gold or Platinum yearly subscription.
This is the important bit though - take your time! Spend at least one month just reading the emails and interests you get from Chinese ladies. Give yourself a good idea of what's out there, and the sort of Chinese lady you want.
You'll also start to see patterns emerging in suspicious ladies. Personally I am very suspicious of:

- Ladies who have obviously uploaded their own photos (sometimes poor quality) and have written their own profiles (sometimes in bad English).
- Ladies who live away from home and who have brothers and sisters.
- Ladies who have a QQ account so I can chat to them.
- Ladies who have taken some thought into what to write on their profile, although I avoid those with a long shopping list of requirements in a man.

How Much Money Does an American Man Need to Get a Chinese Wife?
Interested in Chinese mail order brides but not sure if you can afford it? It's best to do some math before you fall in love with a beautiful Chinese lady on a site like Chinese Kisses.
So let me give you a ballpark figure. Finding a Chinese wife from China will cost around $10,000. This includes:

She might be able to get a cleaning job or something. But a career lady who had a good career back in China won't find this exactly fulfilling.

Chinese Dating Site Wars and Funny Goings Ons...
So I started the Asian Dating Sites Guide back in August 2010. I'd had a terrible time with my Chinese lady, but that's another story altogether. What upset me just as much was that I really felt like I was being taken for a ride on the Chinese dating site I was using (Chnlove). I was paying a lot of money to send emails to and from ladies. I kept getting contacted by ladies way younger than I wanted to meet. Yes this happens on all dating sites but when you have to pay over $5 a time to email them it's obviously a trap to lure you into wasting your hard earned cash.
The Asian Dating Sites Guide is starting to get some interesting feedback from dating site members. Remember folks, it's us MEN who pay for online dating - most sites allow ladies to join free of charge. So it's us MEN who should be setting the agenda here.
So recently I got a really long comment on the site and decided to publish it here. It's an interesting read for anyone thinking of using an Asian dating site. Sadly I've heard this story time and time again.
Interestingly, within 24 hours of publishing the comment, somebody has lept to Chnlove's defence. Is it Chnlove defending their own site? I've no easy way of telling. The comment was posted from a network in the US. But the English looks Chinese-like. Other dating review sites have a long history of seeing positive and negative comments, so nothing would surprise me.
So here's the honest truth about Chnlove. I met a lady on the site. She was real. I visited her in China. She was great. Our relationship did not work out. No fault of Chnlove - it happens. But I spent hundreds of dollars on that site. I could have joined Chinese Love Links or Cherry Blossoms for around $150 for an annual membership. And for that I could have chatted to hundreds or even thousands of women. I could even have joined DateInAsia and chatted to Chinese girls for free. Sure there are scammers on these sites. But chat to enough ladies and you'll easily be able to sort them into different categories of lady. On Chinese Love Links I see the same types of lady time and time again. Likely scammer. Narcissist. Time waster. Girl looking for Mr 100%. Green card seeker. Blah blah blah.
To be fair, I was also impressed with Chnlove support. They were always quick to respond to my questions. The problem lies in China itself. The marriage agencies that Chnlove relies on to supply the lady profiles don't have a good reputation. There is abundant proof of blatant dishonest activity going on. Yet Chnlove appear to take no action against the agencies. The problem is that it's not really in their interests to do so. The more letters an agency sends through Chnlove, the more money that Chnlove make. Simple as that. So don't expect to see anything change anytime soon.
Anyway, if you don't like Chnlove, vote with your feet. Use one of the other Asian dating sites.

Finding Love on Chinese LoveLinks
So I'm now into the second month of my Platinum membership of Chinese LoveLinks. I am starting to really like this site.
My head is spinning from speaking to so many girls on the site. One tip I have is to focus on a specific area of China. The country is so vast, and the people so diverse that you need to limit your options somewhat. Although China has opened up to the outside world, as a Westerner you'll still find it quite difficult to travel around the different cities. Buying train tickets is quite complex if you don't speak Chinese. What's often more frustrating is that China has such a vast population that trains and buses are frequently full, and finding tickets at certain times of the year can be very difficult indeed.
I am currently looking for Chinese ladies to visit in one of the largest cities in China. The city is one of the wealthier coastal cities. Few ladies I've spoke to are actually from this city, they are largely economic migrants.
It was announced today that China officially overtook Japan to become the world's 2nd largest economy. I am not surprised. People associate Asian ladies with poor mail order brides from farming communities. But the Chinese LoveLinks ladies I have spoken to have been overwhelmingly in the alpha female category. Most have office jobs that pay a decent wage. Some speak very good English. Sure, many of them have to share apartments with friends, but this city is expensive. It was much the same when I worked in London - an apartment of my own was way out of my price range.
I am still not entirely sure that I like the idea of an alpha female wife. Few men actively seek a lady who has greater earning potential than he does. But the reassurring thing about these top ladies is that they're usually marrying for the right reasons. They have good jobs. Often their families are wealthy. They don't need our money, or our Western passports.

I've been looking for a Chinese wife for a while. I'm not totally convinced a Chinese wife for me, but that's another story. Fortunately because of my age I am in no hurry to get married. Which is just as well because if you rush into a marriage with any lady, you might end up making a big mistake.

Chinese Love Links - First Impressions
So I've signed up for Platinum membership of Chinese Love Links. This is a great Chinese dating site, and I really wished I'd used it in 2009 instead of Chnlove.
Chinese Love Links has a flat rate fee (around $160 for an annual subscription). On Chnlove I had to pay around $5 each time I sent a Chinese lady an email. This paid for translation costs, but this was a bit of a sham as some of the ladies could write English anyway.
I've been pretty much swamped with admirers on Chinese Love Links. Unlike Chnlove, the majority of the ladies are someone I might be interested in. The only timewasters have been:
Many of the Chinese Love Links ladies speak and write pretty good English. Thankfully this time I can write basic Chinese, so that is something that really impresses them.
Bizarrely, the two ladies I have spent most time talking to are both Sichuan girls (despite living in one of the coastal cities). I have written it before and I'll mention it again - the Sichuan lady is the beautiful lady. I'm getting good at picking them out on Chinese dating sites. If beauty is your top priority then set your search for a city such as Chongqing, Chengdu or one of the cities bordering the Sichuan region (like Changsha). P.S. Sichuan food is also top notch.

First Impressions of Chinese Cupid
So yesterday I signed up for full membership of Chinese Cupid. I've been a free member for a while, but it's time to start contacting some ladies to visit in China later in the year.
I like the Cupid Media sites. They are much cheaper than the pay per contact sites. In 2009 I was burned badly on Chnlove. I ended up spending over $400 on that site in less than 6 months. Yes I met a great lady though the site, and visiting her in China was fantastic. But $400 is still a lot of money. By comparison I've just paid around $165 for an annual Platinum membership of Chinese Cupid.
There are some great ladies on Chinese Cupid. You can tell that Asia is booming as we're rapidly moving out of mail order bride territory here. The ladies I've seen have great jobs, dress well and are very well educated. This site really does blow the poor uneducated farm girl mail order bride perception out of the window. It won't belong before Asia overtakes America and Western Europe as the hub of global power.
Anyway, back to Chinese Cupid. What's good about Chinese Cupid is that many of the ladies speak and write good English. If you're new to online dating or haven't been to Asia many times then it's much easier to stick to talking to these girls. Thankfully due to the excellent search facilities on the site it's possible to specify that you only want to search for ladies with good English skills (you can actually search on other languages as well). You can also write to them in Chinese - and I'll tell you that this will really impress them!
Any yes, on Chinese Cupid you can talk to as many ladies as you want, which is much better than Chnlove. A lot of the ladies have also posted natural photos of themselves. Obviously some ladies post rubbish photos but not every girl in China is a computer geek with ninja photo uploading skills.

Chnlove Stole My Money!
I've just logged onto my Chnlove Chinese dating account only to discover that the credits I had bought on the site had been stolen from me! What a scam.
Yes that's right - my credits have expired. I'm really annoyed about this. Since I paid for my credits with Paypal, there's really no reason why virtual money should expire. I was encouraged to buy a lot of credits because there is a big discount if you buy them in larger batches.
So I've done a bit of digging, and according to the Chnlove website "According to the Terms of Service, Qpid Credit can be used for 180 days from the date of purchase. Credit older than 180 days in the Account will expire." This sucks. Really.
I'm really annoyed about this. If Chnlove was based in my own country I would be beating down a path to the door of my local trading standards office. Never mind the problems with scam ladies, dishonest ladies, rogue marriage agencies and other problems. Gentlemen - if you're looking for a Chinese bride then don't waste your hard earned money on Chnlove. It's far cheaper to take out an annual subscription to Cherry Blossoms or Chinese Love Links, then you can contact as many ladies as you want for a flat rate fee. A lot of the Chnlove ladies are also on these sites anyway.

Take it from me - using a free Chinese dating site is a false economy. There are so many dating scams going on these days that there's no way a free website is going to be able to afford the technology or human moderators to keep a free dating site free of scammers.

Here's a quick review of China Love Link, not to be confused with the excellent Chinese Love Links Chinese dating site. I really hate it when there are similar sounding websites!
China Love Link is one of the many Chinese dating sites where Western men can make contact with Chinese ladies looking for Western (i.e. rich) husbands. I'm not sure I would like to register my personal details on this site - it all looks a bit suspect. There's enough problems with Internet dating scammers without having to factor in rogue Chinese marriage agencies.

My experience of using the Chnlove Chinese dating site
I used Chnlove for a while in 2009. In its favour it has the best looking women I've ever seen on a dating site. Wow! Also the girl I met on Chnlove did actually exist, and I had a fantastic time when I visited her in China.

Here's a bit more of a brain dump from my experiences in looking for a Chinese wife. A lot of men rush into the Asian dating scene, but there is a lot more to it than most of them realise.
From the number of people I talk to I know that a lot of people's perceptions of China and the Chinese people are several decades out of date. For instance, people think that most Chinese women on dating sites are very poor and looking for a rich Western men. The reality is that most of the ladies on dating sites are from the middle to upper sections of Chinese society. I've chatted to Chinese women who have better jobs than I have! Read and learn people!
