Hey guys - I was rummaging around on my hard disk and found I once wrote an Asian dating guide eBook.

I've now converted it to HTML and put it on my Thai Bride website - read the guide here. I wrote it in 2011 so some of it's outdated, but I did a little bit of updating.

The main changes since 2011 as far as Asian dating go are:

• Introduction Agencies like Thai Professional and Anglo Thai Introductions seem to have disappeared. Instead guys think they can do better going it alone on a dating site. Ha ha ha - I still think introduction agencies were a good idea, even if Louis Theroux poked fun at them in his popular documentary.
• Dating sites come and go. Most notably Chinese Love Links is now called China Love Cupid. Thai Love Links also has a new name: Thai Cupid.
• I completely updated the references to QQ for Chinese dating as now most ladies use WeChat instead.
• Asian countries have got ever more wealthy and Westernised, so Asian dating's not as good as it was. China's really progressed economically, if not socially.
• Apps like Tinder, TanTan and Skout have appeared but I just don't think they're that great for finding Asian long term partners.
• I stuck in a bit about Ladyboy dating, as that's got tremendously popular these days. This is how much progress Western society has made. If we guys want to find an attractive and interesting partner, we have to marry a dude.

Anyway, I hope you find the guide useful - god knows it's pretty hard to find love in Asia, or anywhere else for that matter.

Increasing numbers of men are now looking at the option of finding a mail order bride from Vietnam. If I was starting my search for an Asian wife now, I think I would consider Vietnam my #1 choice.

Are There Korean Dating Sites?

If you want to look for a Korean wife then there are two places to look:
Korean Cupid is a Korean dating site. You'll find plenty of Korean men and women on this site. There are plenty of Korean ladies who are interested in dating Western men. It may not be that easy to find a Korean wife though. There is no shortage of men in Korea, so Korean ladies have a lot of very eligible men to choose from! Korean ladies are reckoned to be the best Asian ladies to marry, so they have no shortage of suitors. Korean culture is also a lot different to Western culture. If you want to have some success dating a Korean girl then you'll need to understand her culture. Women are mysterious creatures at time, and so by wanting to date a Korean woman you're really making things hard for yourself.

Many countries like the USA, Canada, Japan and the UK have significant Korean communities, so it may be good to date a Korean from these communities. You might find Koreans in your local area by signing up to Asian singles sites that are more focussed on dating in your own country, rather than the international dating sites.

Finally check out Japanese Cupid - there are many Korean ladies in Japan. They can sometimes find it hard to find Japanese husbands since they're not considered fully Japanese.

How to Find Love Overseas

Global air travel and the rise of the Internet mean that it's never been easier to find love overseas. PureFilipina - Philippines Chat Site

So I found a Filipina dating site I'd not seen before, so I decided to register and see if was any good.

The site is called PureFilipina. It's just one of the many Filipina dating sites out there. Registration took a couple of minutes. Then I found out I could chat to the Filipinas who were online while I was.

There didn't seem to be as many members on this site as there are on Filipino Cupid or Cherry Blossoms.

One good thing is that the site is pretty cheap. It's a lot cheaper than Filipino Cupid or Filipina Kisses. Obviously it's not as cheap as DateInAsia (which is free!), but I'm not a big fan of the free sites.

So is PureFilipina worth signing up to, or are better sites available?

DateInAisa

So I've been doing a bit more thinking about DateInAisa. This is one of the Asian dating websites that is actually totally free to use. I guess you don't get something for nothing these days. In fact this is true and not true when it comes to DateInAisa.

DateInAisa is indeed a free site, but it's not that easy to use. Given how many female members the site has, it's quite difficult to find your dream lady on the site. For one thing there aren't many search options - you can basically just search for age and location. For another, members can only upload 1 photo of themselves.

So I guess DateInAisa is a bit of a pot luck dating site really.

One thing that is good about the site is that it's a good place to find women from a much wider range of Aisan countries. I've personally dated countless Chinese women, and I know you guys are also interested in Filipino and Thai women.

Well I've got news for you - there's a world of choice when it comes to oriental dating. Just lately I've been wondering if Vietnamese women are for me. They seem cuter than the Chinese girls on Chinese Love Links, and maybe they're not so demanding on us men either.

And for the record, there are hundreds of Viet girls on DateInAisa. Here's the number I found:

Find Asia Love is a 100% free Asian dating site. Actually the site is really called Find Love Asia, but many people prefer to call it Find Asia Love. Given that 99% of the female members are from the Philippines, maybe Find Philippines Love is a more appropriate name?

There are quite a few Asian dating websites available, but if you want to check them all out, then there's a new kid on the block!

Asia Love Match is from the people who brought you China Love Match. I haven't used China Love Match as much as I have Chinese Love Links, but it's quite a good site. I met one China Love Match lady on my last visit to China, and I was impressed!

Asia Love Match looks and feels much the same as China Love Match. I loved the fact that I got a complimentary subscription to ALM when I joined CLM!

If you're interested in finding a Chinese wife or girlfriend then here's a new site about Chinese online dating. If you're considering finding a Chinese wife then you'll need to read up on Chinese culture and dating. Finding a Chinese wife is very rewarding, but many men find that Chinese ladies are much more complicated than Thai or Filipina women. Are Chinese women worth it? I guess that's up to you.

ForeignLadies International Dating Site

One of the international dating sites men searching for foreign brides usually come across is ForeignLadies. I must admit that I too first looked at this site when I first thought of the idea of looking for love overseas.

Good things about ForeignLadies include the fact that you can see the ladies' profiles without having to login and register first. So it's a good site if you're window shopping for a foreign bride. Another good thing is that it has a range of ladies from a wide range of countries. So it's a good place if you're not sure if you want a Russian, Asian or even a Latin American bride.

Sadly that's probably the best of the site over with. ForeignLadies is quite an expensive site to use. It's of the letter writing variety, where you have to pay to send a letter to a lady. After I found ForeignLadies I found Chnlove, and I spent over $400 on that site in just a few months. Wow, was I a mug. I could have signed up to Chinese Love Links for an annual membership plan of around $165! And there are enough English speaking ladies on this site that there's no need for a translation letter writing service anyway.

Another kicker for me is that if you search hard enough you can find the same ladies on more than one dating site. I've personally seen ladies from Chnlove on Cherry Blossoms. Do some hunting around and no doubt you'll find the ForeignLadies ladies on other sites.

Having said that, plenty of men do find love on ForeignLadies and go on to marry the foreign lady of their dreams. But just watch the costs of sites like this because I know of men who have spent 1000's of dollars writing to ladies on international dating sites, and that's a big price to pay for finding love overseas.

What is the QPid Network?

The QPid Network is a network of Asian dating websites popular with men seeking mail order brides from Asia.
The QPid Network has two main sites:

• Chnlove
• Thai Matches

The sites used to be a single site but I guess men like me complained so much about Thai women being on a Chinese dating site that the Thai women were shifted off to a separate website. Generally speaking I don't know of any men seeking Chinese brides who would also consider dating a Thai women. So it makes sense to keep the sites separate.

Both Chnlove and Thai Matches are letter writing sites. These sites are free to join, but you have to pay to contact the ladies on the site. The cost of sending or receiving a letter includes a fee to get the letter translated into the lady's native language (i.e. Thai or Mandarin Chinese).

Good things about both sites include the fact that it's one way of getting around the language barrier. The sites are especially popular with men seeking more mature Asian wives, since these ladies are less likely to speak English. Chnlove in particular is great for Chinese mature women.

On the downside, letter writing sites are expensive! Writing letters to Asian ladies can work out much more expensive than using a flat rate Asian dating site such as Asian Euro, Asian Kisses or Chinese Love Links.

What is the Cost of Mail Order Brides?

I've had a good attempt at calculating the cost of finding a mail order bride. A lot of guys want to know what they're getting into financially before they find a foreign bride from Russia or Asia (maybe Latin America too).

You know you can do all the math in the world, but here's the simple truth:

• Mail order brides are expensive!

I spent a bit of time on an Asian dating forum a couple of years back. The guys on the board often mentioned the figure of $10,000. Having spent a fair amount of time and money on my own search for an Asian wife I'll tend to agree with them. So $10,000 is probably a reasonable figure for finding an Asian mail order bride, getting married and bringing her back to your country. Figure that $10,000 is also reasonable for a Russian bride. Latin brides from Colombia, Costa Rica or other Latin American countries might cost a bit less if you're an American guy who can get reasonably priced flights to that region.

Of course this $10,000 figure only includes expenses incurred in finding a bride. Once she's living with you in your own country there could well be further expenses. Actually, it's ladies we're talking about here, so of course there will be further costs!

How much more a foreign lady will cost you depends on the lady. I've spoken to career ladies, and if I married one of these then they'd be pretty much financially independent. I've also spoken to girls who just dream of being a housewife while the man goes out and earns the money. Your new bride's ability to work will also depend to some extent on her English language ability, and whether she has some skills that transfer well to life in a Western country. Different men like different types of lady, but this is another consideration you need to make when choosing a suitable bride for you.

So mail order brides are expensive, be under no illusions about that. Make sure you really can afford to find that foreign lady, then have enough money to support her after marriage. Money issues are the cause of many relationship issues, so being realistic about it will improve your chances of a successful and long lasting marriage to a beautiful foreign bride.

Chinese LoveLinks

So I've been doing a bit more searching on Chinese LoveLinks. There are some great Chinese ladies on this site. The downside is that it's not a good place for the newbie man seeking an Asian bride. The best suggestion I have is to sign up for free membership and take a look around. If you like what you see, then take out the discounted Gold or Platinum yearly subscription.

This is the important bit though - take your time! Spend at least one month just reading the emails and interests you get from Chinese ladies. Give yourself a good idea of what's out there, and the sort of Chinese lady you want.

You'll also start to see patterns emerging in suspicious ladies. Personally I am very suspicious of:

• New members.
• Ladies with no photos.
• Ladies who contact you and tell you their email address straight away.
• Chinese ladies not living in China.
• Chinese girls under the age of 25.
• Ladies with hidden profiles.
• Ladies from Nanning.

The good news is that this little list probably encompasses the majority of the problem and scammer ladies on the site.

You can also probably add to this list the ladies who have obviously airbrushed photos. These photos look pretty much identical to the professional studio shots that are common on Chnlove. Many of these ladies will be represented by marriage agencies, which have their own particular hazards.

The Chinese LoveLinks ladies I actively seek out are:

• Those with a sensible age difference to me (no more than 12 years age difference).
• Professional ladies with good jobs.
• Ladies who have put their English knowledge as "Good" or better.
• Ladies who have obviously uploaded their own photos (sometimes poor quality) and have written their own profiles (sometimes in bad English).
• Ladies who live away from home and who have brothers and sisters.
• Ladies who have a QQ account so I can chat to them.
• Ladies who have taken some thought into what to write on their profile, although I avoid those with a long shopping list of requirements in a man.

Does this work? Yes! I have met a number of ladies in person after seeing them on Chinese LoveLinks. Each of them was a great lady in her own way, and there wasn't a scammer amongst them. Sure, not all of them were marriage material, but that's something you just can't tell from a dating site, you really have to meet these ladies in person before you can decide if they're for you.

Korean Cupid

Here's a new article about Korean Cupid. Korea Cupid is a popular Korean themed Asian dating website. The site is popular with Koreans looking for partners who are from Korea or their local Korean community. The site is also popular with Western men seeking Korean wives. The site may also attract a few men seeking Asian mail order brides, although it's not generally as easy to find a mail order bride from Korea as it is from neighboring China, Thailand or the Philippines.

As to the site itself, Korean Cupid offers free registration for men and women. When you register you can quickly set up your online dating profile, then return to upload photos or add more details about yourself at a later stage. As with most sites you can use the free membership to see if you like some of the other members. If you want to contact other members then you have to take out a subscription. Subscription fees are reasonable, whether you choose Gold or Platinum membership.

As far as finding a Korean wife go, Korea Cupid is worth a look. However, Korean as well as Japanese ladies tend to be quite shy and reserved, so as the man you'll have to do plenty of chasing if you want a relationship with a Korean lady. The good news is that many men think that Korean ladies are some of the best Asian ladies around, so all that chasing is worthwhile. Enjoy your visit to Korean Cupid.

Transpacific Marriage Agency

If you're interested in finding a Japanese girlfriend or wife then there aren't quite so many options as there are for the mail order bride type Asian countries (by these I mean Thailand, the Philippines, and to some extent, China). One popular Japanese dating site is Japan Cupid. Although there are plenty of Japanese ladies on this site, Japanese ladies tend to be fairly shy, and not many ladies like the idea of posting their profiles on a site like Japan Cupid.

Another possibility is to use a more introductions based approach. One alternative to Japan Cupid is to use the Transpacific Marriage Agency (TMA). This Japan based company helps Western men look for Japanese wives.

The Transpacific Marriage Agency works more like a dating site rather than a introductions agency. Men and women register, and the women are sent the men profiles, and men are sent the women's profiles. Some of the men and women are also listed on the TMA website.

Be rest assured that Transpacific Marriage Agency is a legitimate business, and plenty of men and women have found love using the service. I've seen some of the ladies on other dating services, so I know they're genuine.

I was interested in finding a Japanese wife, so I joined TMA for a few months. To be honest I'm not sure if it's worth the money really. There are some good ladies on the site. However, the site works by sending old fashioned PDF files of profiles to the members. These have low quality photos, and it's hard to judge a woman by a small thumbnail in a PDF file. I also found other shortcomings, namely that it wasn't always clear where a lady lived. Traveling around Japan is expensive, and it's often better to stick to finding a lady in an area you know. If your Japanese isn't great then venturing outside of central Tokyo, Osaka or Kyoto is pretty difficult as well.

So what's the alternative to the Transpacific Marriage Agency? One good tip I picked up from them is that in the membership pack they give all kinds of information away about how to find Japanese ladies. Sadly you'll really need to be living or working in Japan to use these tips. But in reality if you want a Japanese wife then you'll sort of guess that it's much better to live in Japan anyway. There aren't many Japanese women who are interested in living overseas. Personally I would say that Chinese ladies are a better proposition. Of course Chinese and Japanese cultures are vastly different. But if you're after a beautiful, smart and sophisticated Asian lady, then you might just be stunned at the quality of ladies on Chinese Cupid.

Update: I left TMA as it was largely a waste of money. Quite a few of the women are on Japan Cupid anyway. In fact, Japanese dating was a big waste of time for me. Why bother with Japanese women when there are tens of millions of hot Chinese women desperate to chat to you online?
